STORY
Think together about life beyond discharge

Join nursing student Yuuka Takei on her placement
First Steps in the NICU 2 — Preparing for Life at Home is the sequel to the neonatal care game First Steps in the NICU. Play as nursing student Yuuka Takei and learn about discharge planning and support during placements in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and growing care unit (GCU), a neonatal step-down unit.
Meet children, families and healthcare staff on the ward. Through family rounds, medical care, interprofessional support and pre-discharge discussions, discover how hospital treatment connects with everyday life at home.
Medical knowledge is only part of the picture. What matters to the family, and what kind of life do they hope for? As the story unfolds, consider what you can do to support the child and family.
